First Black female Fortune 500 CEO Ursula Burns makes $3.5 million from Uber

Burns rides high on stock gains, adding $3.4 million to her wealth

Ursula Burns, renowned as the first Black woman to lead a Fortune 500 company, has experienced a significant boost in her financial standing with a notable increase in her stake in Uber Technologies. Burns has seen her stake in Uber surge by $3.5 million since the beginning of the year.

The surge in Uber shares on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) has propelled Burns’ stake to new heights. With an impressive 38.52-percent increase in Uber’s share price, from $58.38 on Jan. 1 to $80.25 at the time of reporting, Burns’ stake in the ride-hailing giant now stands at more than $12 million.

The recent surge in her stake adds to the impressive gains Burns recorded in 2023 when her stake in Uber witnessed a substantial increase of $5.23 million, soaring from $3.85 million on Jan. 1, 2023, to $9.08 million by Dec. 31, 2023, fueled by the soaring shares of Uber Technologies amidst heightened investor interest.

Ursula Burns, who made history in 2009 as the CEO of Xerox, continues to exert her influence across various corporate boards, including those of Endeavor Group Holdings Inc., ExxonMobil Corporation, Plum Acquisition Corp I, and Teneo Holdings LLC.

Her strategic investments in recent times have significantly boosted her wealth figures in recent times and reinforced her reputation as a top figure among America’s business executives and business figures.

The recent surge in Uber Technologies’ share price has not only bolstered shareholder values but has also resulted in substantial profits for Burns. Since the beginning of the year, the market value of Burns’ stake in Uber has surged by $3.4 million, rising from $9.08 million to $12.48 million.
