Executive Update: Denise Singleton's 2023 compensation at WestRock falls to $2.85 million, a 52-percent reduction

One of America’s leading Black executives, Denise Singleton, executive vice president, general counsel, and secretary at WestRock, received a total compensation package of $2.85 million from the U.S. corrugated packaging company in 2023.

This reflects a notable decrease of 52.34 percent compared to her $5.99-million compensation in the previous fiscal year.

Assuming her role at the helm of WestRock in March 2022, Singleton’s compensation package included a $0.69-million base salary, a non-equity incentive plan compensation of $0.45 million, and a long-term incentive of $1.24 million.

Singleton’s distinguished career showcases her profound expertise and leadership skills. Before joining WestRock, she held pivotal positions at IDEX Corporation, SunCoke Energy, Inc., PPG Industries, and a Washington, D.C., law firm.

Appointed as EVP, general counsel, and secretary in March 2022, Singleton now oversees all legal, regulatory, compliance, environmental, government affairs, and corporate governance matters for WestRock, marking another milestone in her impressive career.

Despite financial setbacks, Singleton’s commitment to WestRock is evident in her personal investment. She holds a 0.0083-percent stake, owning 23,628 shares valued at $0.96 million.
