Egyptian football player Mohamed Salah, widely acclaimed as one of the best players of his generation and a top figure among Africa’s footballers, is on the brink of surpassing $120 million in career earnings by the end of the 2023-2024 English Premier League (EPL) season.

According to data tracked by Billionaires.Africa, the Liverpool Football Club forward and Egypt national team captain, is set to see his career earnings soar to £97.64 million ($124.2 million) by the end of the current EPL season. This includes an impressive £18.2-million ($23.15 million) salary, which Salah is slated to pocket this season — a testament to his exceptional talent.

Beyond his remarkable on-field achievements, Salah has solidified his financial standing through lucrative endorsement deals with industry giants, including Adidas. The renowned sportswear brand recognized Salah’s ability to unite people through sports in its “Impossible Is Nothing” campaign, projecting his image onto the iconic Burj Khalifa in 2021.

In 2023, Salah’s financial success reached new heights as he secured the 28th spot in Forbes’ list of the world’s highest-paid athletes. His total earnings for the year amounted to a staggering $53 million, with $35 million coming from on-field endeavors and an astonishing $18 million from off-field ventures, such as sponsorship deals, appearance fees, memorabilia, and licensing income, and returns from businesses in which he holds significant interests.

Salah’s $54.6-million contract extension paves the way for ongoing success

Salah in July 2022 inked a three-year contract extension with Liverpool, valued at $54.6 million. This contractual commitment ties him to the English club until the summer of 2025, following a previous five-year, $52-million contract extension signed in 2018.

As the football world eagerly anticipates Salah’s continued financial ascent, he remains a captivating player to watch in the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations.
