Tyler Perry, an African-American billionaire and film producer, has signed a four-picture film deal with Amazon Studios, a U.S. television and film producer and distributor that operates as one of Amazon’s subsidiaries.

Amazon is a multinational technology company founded by Jeff Bezos.

Under the terms of the new deal with Amazon Studios, Perry will write, direct, and produce four new films for release on Prime Video, a subscription video streaming service available in over 190 countries and territories worldwide.

While making the announcement about the partnership, Perry expressed his excitement and gratitude to begin working with Amazon Studios to bring movies to Prime Video.

“I’m excited to keep telling original stories and bringing my next projects to the audiences they reach around the world,” he said.

The new agreement, which follows the media mogul’s recent successes, will increase the number of his films available on Prime Video, which already includes “Daddy’s Little Girls,” “For Colored Girls,” “Single Moms Club,” and his blockbuster sets, “Madea’s Big Happy Family” and “A Madea Christmas”.

“Tyler Perry is undeniably one of our generation’s most prolific creators; he is a true multi-hyphenate who has defined his own incredible brand of storytelling and inspired people all over the world with his series and films,” said Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon Studios, in welcoming Perry to the family.

The announcement comes nearly five months after the African-American billionaire reached the end of his $150-million-per-year deal with BET, as part of which he received an equity stake in BET+, a premium online streaming service that features more than 2,000 hours of Black content from leading Black producers.

Perry has done well in recent years, delivering BET the top two leading cable series for black audiences in 2021 with “Sistas” and “The Oval.” He’s even had time to make films outside the deal, such as “A Madea Homecoming” and “A Fall From Grace,” for Netflix.

As a prolific writer, producer, director, and actor best known for his comedic roles., Perry has made more than $660 million from the “Madea” film franchise, which has a devoted following.

At the time of writing, his net worth was estimated to be $1 billion, thanks to his film library dating back to the early 1990s and his earnings as a producer.
