South Africa’s top executive Ockert Janse van Rensburg, the chief financial officer (CFO) of Motus Holdings Limited, a global automotive mobility solutions provider, received a total compensation of R42.9 million ($2.3 million) for the 2023 fiscal year.

This reflects a significant 60.95-percent increase from the previous year’s $1.43 million, emphasizing van Rensburg’s crucial role in driving Motus’ financial success.

His 2023 compensation includes a base salary of R6.64 million ($0.36 million) and a performance-based short-term incentive of R8.58 million ($0.46 million), showcasing van Rensburg’s impactful contributions to Motus’s financial achievements.

Appointed as Motus CFO in October 2017, van Rensburg in 2023 earned further acclaim for his committed leadership at the helm of the group, securing a long-term incentive of R26.18 million ($1.41 million).

Before joining Motus, he held the dual role of CEO during the company’s unbundling and listing until Dec. 2018. In the 2022/2023 period, van Rensburg completed the Global CEO Program at Wharton and IESE, enhancing his profile as an accomplished South African business executive.

Van Rensburg’s strategic investment: $1.4-million stake aligned with Motus’ success

Motus Holdings Limited, a global automotive solutions provider with a footprint in South Africa, the United Kingdom, Australia, South East Asia, and Southern and East Africa, posted strong fiscal year 2023 financial results. With more than 75 years of consistent growth, the company employs a global workforce of more than 19,800.

In the fiscal year 2023, Motus recorded a 15.59-percent increase in revenue, reaching $5.63 billion, up from $4.87 billion in 2022. Profits also rose by 2.16 percent to $181 million, compared to the previous year’s $176.75 million. Notably, assets experienced significant growth, surging by 57.06 percent to $3.31 billion in 2023 from $2.11 billion in 2022.

In addition to his executive and governance roles, van Rensburg holds a 0.14-percent stake in Motus Holdings Limited, equivalent to 255,453 shares. At current market prices, this investment amounts to R26.38 million ($1.42 million), demonstrating his personal alignment with the company’s ongoing success.
