South African executive Peter Mountford pockets $1.2-million salary in 2023

His 2023 compensation package includes a base salary of R7.12 million ($0.38 million)

Peter Mountford, South African Executive and CEO of Super Group — a leading global logistics and mobility group — received a compensation package of R22.55 million ($1.2 million) at the end of the group’s 2023 financial year, attributed to his contribution to the company’s financial performance.

Mountford’s compensation package demonstrates a remarkable increase from the previous year’s total of $0.96 million, underscoring the company’s impressive accomplishments under his leadership. The surge in compensation highlights Super Group’s notable progress, primarily attributed to Mountford’s contributions to the firm’s financial performance.

His 2023 compensation package includes a base salary of R7.12 million ($0.38 million), augmented by a performance-driven short-term incentive of R13.1 million ($0.7 million). He also received a long-term incentive of R0.35 million ($0.18 million), driven by the outstanding performance of the broad-based supply chain management services throughout the fiscal year.

Mountford’s visionary leadership at helm of global logistics powerhouse

Super Group headquartered in South Africa and publicly listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, operates globally, providing logistics and mobility solutions across Sub-Saharan Africa, the UK, Europe, and Australasia. Collaborating with prestigious international clients, the company specializes in leveraging technology for supply chain optimization, dealership, and fleet solutions, employing over 20,000 individuals across 24 countries.

Mountford has been instrumental in leading a team of more than 14,900 professionals across 21 countries, steering the strategic direction of the Group. His leadership roles include managing director of SAB Diversified Beverages and CEO of Imperial Holdings Limited’s Consumer Logistics Division. He has received prestigious awards, including the EY World Entrepreneur Award for Southern Africa and the CNBC Africa Business Leader of the Year in 2018.

Super Group’s global dominance: CEO Mountford’s leadership fuels 30.6 percent revenue rise

Under his leadership, Super Group has grown into a formidable force in global supply chain and mobility solutions. It recorded a remarkable 30.62 percent increase in revenue in recent times, from R47.37 billion ($2.53 billion) in 2022 to R61.88 billion ($3.31 billion) in the 2023 financial year. Additionally, its assets saw a noteworthy uptick of 19.08 percent — climbing from R7.94 billion ($424.97 million) in 2022 to R9.46 billion ($506.07 million) in 2023.

Apart from his executive roles, Mountford holds a minority 0.098 percent stake in Super Group, equivalent to 319,000 ordinary shares, presently valued at R9.09 million ($0.48 million). This ownership stake stands as a testament to his astute business acumen and ability to navigate evolving technological, environmental, competitive, and public policy landscapes.
