Renowned U.S. rapper and billionaire businessman Sean “Diddy” Combs has stepped down as the chairman of Revolt — an American music-oriented digital cable television network — in the wake of multiple sexual abuse claims against him.

A recent statement by Revolt — the Black music television company founded by Combs 10 years ago — revealed that while the music mogul had no “operational or day-to-day role in the business,” he had decided to step down from his position as chairman.

The latest move — described as temporary — allows Revolt to maintain focus on its mission of creating impactful and meaningful content for the culture and amplifying the voices of Black people across the United States and the African diaspora.

Cassie’s $30-million lawsuit sparks controversy as legal storm brews for Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs

The legal actions against Combs include a federal lawsuit filed by Cassie — whose real name is Casandra Ventura — seeking $30 million in damages. Cassie alleges a history of coercion and abuse spanning over a decade, accusing Combs of rape, sex trafficking, and mistreatment.

Despite denying all charges, Combs, who ranks as one of America’s wealthiest Black individuals, finds himself at the center of a legal storm, with the lawsuits coinciding with the expiration of the Adult Survivors Act—a New York law permitting victims of sexual abuse a one-year window to file civil action regardless of the statute of limitations.

From empowerment to legal struggles: Diddy’s complex year in review

Combs’ decision to step down from Revolt comes amid what could have been a great year for the billionaire businessman mogul. His recent moves include the launch of Empower Global — an e-commerce platform designed to empower Black entrepreneurs and showcase products exclusively from Black-owned brands.

In recent times, Combs also returned publishing rights worth over $100 million to artists and songwriters associated with his label — Bad Boy Entertainment — resolving long-standing disputes, including a feud with Ma$e over publishing rights.

Despite these efforts, the cloud of legal allegations now looms over Combs, marking a challenging chapter for the influential figure in the music and business industry.
