Five months after German multinational sportswear giant Adidas severed its multiyear contract with Kanye West due to his antisemitic comments that violated Adidas’ core values of diversity, inclusion, and equality, West remains one of the wealthiest Black people in the United States.

Before the collapse of his multi-year deal with Adidas to design the sneaker brand Yeezy, West had a net worth of $2 billion in June 2022.

Four months later, Forbes reported that his net worth had plummeted to $400.1 million – a remarkable drop Forbes described as a “self-induced downfall”  for the musician-turned-business-mogul, who had accumulated his immense fortune through his partnership with the multi-billion dollar company.

West, with a net worth of $2 billion, was the fourth-richest Black American in June 2022, ahead of cosmetics billionaire, Rihanna, NBA legend Michael Jordan, and hip hop’s first billionaire, Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter. However, following the dissolution of his partnership with Adidas, West’s ranking on the list has since dropped from the top five to the top fifteen.

Kanye West’s current net worth puts him ahead of Emma Grede and Serena Williams

Despite experiencing a significant drop in his net worth from $1.9 billion to $400.1 million, Kanye West, now known as “Ye,” still holds a higher net worth than both Emma Grede, founder and CEO of Good American, and Serena Williams, who is widely considered one of the greatest female tennis players of all time.

According to Forbes, West’s current net worth consists of real estate, cash, a music catalog, and a five-percent stake in his ex-wife Kim Kardashian’s shapewear company, Skims, placing him as the 2,429th richest person in the world.

Meanwhile, Kim Kardashian’s net worth has steadily increased from less than $800 million three years ago to $1.2 billion today, cementing her position as one of the wealthiest businesswomen in America.
