Q Global Commodities (QGC), a commodity, logistics, and investment house led by South African mining magnate Quinton van der Burgh, has partnered with African-focused mining and development company Marula Mining to develop and extract three major future metal projects.

Signing on as a majority shareholder and major investor, QGC under Quinton van der Burgh is set to transform the African-focused mining and development company and fast-track its progress while maintaining a strong focus on sustainability.

Van der Burgh, who ranks as one of South Africa’s top-performing mining magnates, disclosed that he plans to use QGC’s network to open up international partners for sales and marketing and fund Marula Mining to bolster the value of its assets within a short period of time.

With more than 19 years of extensive mining expertise and a successful track record of developing 47 mining projects, the prominent South African magnate revealed that he is eager to explore the dynamic world of renewables. By utilizing joint ventures, QGC is able to venture into this exciting arena while also diversifying its commodity portfolio.

Marula Mining CEO Jason Brewer said that, with the addition of QGC, the company can now “go full throttle and realize the assets” they have.

Marula Mining is a battery metals investment and exploration company with interests in high-value mine projects in Africa, such as the Blesberg Lithium and Tantalum Mine in South Africa, the Nkombwa Hill Project in Zambia, and the Kinusi Copper Mine in Tanzania.

Lithium, one of the most sought-after commodities for the electric vehicle sector, is at an all-time high in terms of trading prices.

The first shipment of high-grade run-of-mine (RoM) lithium ore has been delivered from Marula’s Blesberg lithium and tantalum mine in the Northern Cape under a $5-million lithium prepayment facility to a subsidiary of global commodity group Traxys.
