Kwacha Group CEO and controversial multimillionaire Jimi Wanjigi has formally declared his interest to run for president in the next general election in Kenya.

The election is scheduled to take place on Aug. 9, 2022.

The serial entrepreneur confirmed his interest on Twitter after sharing photos of an endorsement ceremony attended by family and friends.

Accompanied by his son, the tycoon, who is seeking to run on behalf of the Orange Democratic Movement, visited his father Maina Wanjigi and obtained his blessings to run for office.

Wanjigi grew up around politics. His father, Maina Wanjigi, was a member of parliament and a minister in Kenya’s first two cabinets.

Kwacha Group is a privately held family office with interests in agri-business, financial services, industrials and real estate.
