Ugandan mogul Sudhir Ruparelia plans to redesign the former Military Intelligence (CMI) headquarters in Kampala into a luxury business park.
The newly announced project, The Pearl Business Park, is an 18-acre mixed-use facility that will host a five-star hotel, mall and modern hospital. It will be implemented by the businessman’s Ruparelia Group and also host offices and leisure facilities.
Ruparelia Group hopes to capitalize on the growing demand for urbanization in Uganda. In a recent story, PML Daily cited Ruparelia as saying that The Pearl Business Park is one of several dozen greenfield projects that the group is currently developing.
“One of very many to come in the near future, largely to feed Uganda’s growing demand for high quality and sustainable retail, residential, office and industrial solutions,” he said.
“Every developing country needs a matching stock of high-quality real estate infrastructure to fuel further growth and you can always count on us to play that role, so you can be able to focus on your core business,” he added.
The project’s first phase, which will provide office space and 16 lettable floors with 27,240 square meters of built-up area, will be completed by 2023. Amenities will include a state-of-the-art fitness center and access to dual fiber optic Internet.
Ruparelia is a 65-year-old Indian-Ugandan industrialist and investor. He is the chairman and majority shareholder of Ruparelia Group. His core interests are banking, insurance, education, broadcasting, real estate, floriculture, hotels and tourism.
