World Sports Betting (Pty) Ltd. has announced its acquisition of iDiski Media, a growing football publication and media house in South Africa, Sporting Post reported. The betting company will leverage iDiski’s wider reach within the South African market.
World Sports Betting Group CEO Warren Tannous said: “We are excited to see how we can leverage maximum value for both companies following this acquisition. The business units will work together to find a fresh, unique, out-of-the-box formula to add value to fans of WSB and iDiski alike.”
Before the acquisition, the betting company was a significant advertising client for iDiski, reaching football enthusiasts with its products.
iDiski recently launched a weekly newspaper available in English and Zulu, with a print run of 20,000, to further increase its reach. The acquisition will help World Sports Betting offer its products to people who are not into active sports betting.
“When we first started working with the iDiski team as an advertiser it was instantly clear that they had a winning formula, and under the guidance of co-founders Nkululeko Nkewu & Jason Acar, the business was set up perfectly to take on and eventually dominate the local football news and publication industry,” World Sports Betting Head of Marketing Ryno Du Plessis said.
World Sports Betting is a South Africa-based sports setting and online live games operator founded in 2002. Licensed and governed by the Gauteng & National Gambling Board, the company has grown into a global online and retail operation.
Before launching its online platform in 2009, the company was an established casino, racing and sportsbook operation with approximately 1,000 employees.
