Ghanian mining tycoon Daniel McKorley offers women-led businesses interest-free loans

by Ishioma Emi

Ghanaian mining and logistics tycoon Daniel McKorley has provided interest-free loans worth ₵3 million ($494,997) to more than 1,000 women-led small-scale businesses in the Greater Accra Region, Graphic Online reported.

The loans were presented to women-led businesses in the Ada municipality by the McDan Community Support Scheme for Women Empowerment, an initiative established by Electrochem Ghana Limited.

Through the interest-free loans, the businessman will give back to the Ada community, working to sustain the lifespan of the businesses after the loan repayments.

McKorley is the founder and CEO of Electrochem Ghana, a subsidiary of McDan Group.

In 2016, he was named “Entrepreneur of the Year” at the Ghana Aviation Awards.
