Emirati businessman Saleh Al Hashemi looks to help African startups link up with global opportunities

by Ishioma Emi

The Dubai-based investment firm Investera has partnered with its African subsidiary, Investera Plus Africa, to launch operations in Kenya. It hopes to guide foreign investors seeking to invest locally and link indigenous firms with global opportunities through its digital platform.

Investera is an easy-to-use, cost-effective technology for private equity firms and family-owned investment enterprises. It was founded in 2019 by Saleh Al Hashemi, the CEO of Algorythma, a technology-focused company based in Abu Dhabi.

Through the partnership, Investera will provide market research, due diligence, investment advisory and financial intelligence services to investors and bolster entrepreneurship growth within the continent, Business Daily reported.

The company seeks to bridge the gap between African entrepreneurs who have viable business ideas but lack capital and foreign investors searching for investment opportunities in Africa. This means that foreign investors will have access to African startups with viable business ideas on the Investera platform

“If you want to set up a mining operation in the Democratic Republic of Congo, or to invest in a technology startup in Kenya, or in the hospitality sector in Malawi, or even in oil and gas in Chad or Nigeria, the platform will give you access to verified and credible contacts, industry insights, and market intelligence in those countries, helping you navigate the business processes to help you execute your growth strategy,” Investera Director Mahmoud Suleiman said.

Although Africa has countless investment opportunities, many investors shy away from the continent due to a lack of security, unfavorable market policies, poor infrastructure and governance and corruption. Investera believes that providing more partnership opportunities will allow African entrepreneurs to compete better internationally.

In a recent interview with Billionaires.Africa, Honorary Consul of Guinea in California Jordan Garcia noted that: “Africans are ready, willing, and able to collaborate to make mutually beneficial partnerships across strategically important business sectors.”

The partnership will see Al Hashemi’s Investera boost investment opportunities across Africa, starting with Kenya.
