Controversial South African tycoon Hamilton Ndlovu banned from doing business with state.

Ndlovu, a notorious businessman, has been barred from doing business with the state, according to the Special Tribunal.

Ndlovu was forced to repay R158 million ($10.2 million) that he obtained through shady PPE contracts on Tuesday.

The National Health Laboratory Service awarded Ndlovu and his linked enterprises a multimillion rand tender, totaling R172 million ($11.1 million).

The Special Investigating Unit (SIU) has announced that luxury properties worth R32 million ($2.06 million) linked to Ndlovu would be auctioned.

After a crushing loss at the Special Tribunal this week, Ndlovu is weighing his options.

The Special Tribunal issued its decision on Tuesday in response to the SIU’s request that the National Health Laboratory Service investigate and set aside R172 million ($11.1 million) in questionable personal protective equipment (PPE) contracts that Ndlovu and several entities associated to him had received.

It was decided in the SIU’s favor.

Ndlovu’s lawyer stated that they are now considering their options.

When Ndlovu posted photographs of exotic vehicles he had purchased in May 2020 on social media, he set tongues wagging.

This occurred during the country’s severe lockdown and a period of significant economic turmoil for ordinary South Africans.

His posts drew the attention of law enforcement agencies, including the SIU, which revealed a number of procedural violations in the awarding of nearly two dozen PPE contracts to him and his companies.

Ndlovu’s lawyer, Matlhaba Manala, said they haven’t decided whether to appeal the judgement yet, but are researching it and formulating a course of action.
