South African billionaire Quinton van der Burgh launches coffee table book to give back to charity

by Ishioma Emi

South African billionaire and serial entrepreneur Quinton van der Burgh has released a coffee table book* titled, “100 Making a Difference,” which aims to benefit 143 charities globally. He created the book in collaboration with celebrity photographer John Russo.

The book features Russo’s photographs of renowned celebrities, including Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Oprah Winfrey, Usher, Elton John, Eva Longoria, Serena Williams, Maria Sharapova, Tommy Hilfiger and Gwyneth Paltrow, among many others.

Although it celebrates philanthropic individuals and organizations on an international scale, Channel24 reported that it will raise money for the charities it recognized while putting a spotlight on the philanthropists.

“Philanthropy work is close to my heart, and showcasing others who are also trying to make a difference in the world is very important to me,” der Burgh said. “This book will not only raise money for the charities in the book but will also give the people photographed an opportunity to be recognized for their philanthropy away from their usual celebrity status.”

Der Burgh is the founder of the marketing firm Burgh Group Holdings. He is said to have made his first $1 million before turning 21.

Before establishing the group, the billionaire spent 14 years running businesses in the telecom, trading, mining and automotive industries. The new book was published by his pushing company, Quinton van der Burgh Media.

*A coffee table book, also known as a cocktail table book, is an oversized, usually hard-covered book, whose purpose is for display on a table intended for use in an area in which one entertains guests and from which it can serve to inspire conversation or pass the time.
