Innscor Africa, a consumer goods group founded by Zimbabwean businessman Zed Koudounaris, has expanded its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives in 2024, committing $3.9 million to support a wide range of community development programs.
This marks a 200 percent increase from the previous year’s allocation of $1.3 million, reflecting the company's strengthened focus on sustainable development across the country.
Commitment to education, healthcare, and economic empowerment
Innscor’s CSR efforts are primarily focused on inclusive growth, particularly in the areas of education and healthcare. In 2024, the company provided on-the-job training to 181 students and apprentices, continuing its push to equip Zimbabwe's youth with valuable skills.
Gender inclusivity also saw positive strides, with women making up 30 percent of the casual workforce and 27 percent of management positions.
Healthcare remained a central priority, with over 50,000 visits to Innscor’s in-house clinics and expanded health services through external partnerships. The company’s initiatives in healthcare support not only its employees but also contribute to public health nationwide.
Supporting entrepreneurs and farmers
Innscor Africa also made significant strides in fostering economic empowerment, especially for small-scale entrepreneurs and farmers.
The Fizzi Push Cart program benefited 919 operators, while the Profeeds initiative provided training to over 6,600 farmers, helping to improve agricultural practices and livelihoods.
In addition to these efforts, the company partnered with the Global Cleft & Cranio-Facial Foundation to facilitate life-changing surgeries for 90 children, further reinforcing its commitment to community welfare.
Innscor’s strong corporate roots and vision
Innscor Africa’s expanded CSR efforts in 2024 underline the company’s long-standing dedication to sustainable development and community empowerment, solidifying its role as a driving force in Zimbabwe’s corporate landscape.
Founded in 1997 by Zed Koudounaris and Michael Fowler, Innscor has become a diversified pan-African investment holding company with a strong presence in food manufacturing, distribution, and retail.
Despite holding a modest 2.5 percent stake, Koudounaris, a reclusive billionaire businessman, remains a key figure in the company’s success.
