Shonda Rhimes a prolific showrunner, writer, and CEO of the media company Shondaland, has become a member of the ownership team of the Los Angeles Golf Club (LAGC), the pioneering team in Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy’s tech-driven golf league, TGL.

Rhimes shared her excitement on Instagram, stating: “I’m beyond excited to announce my involvement as the newest owner of Los Angeles Golf Club, the inaugural team in the @tglgolf league. I can’t wait to bring my passion for golf to this incredible venture.” Her commitment to participate and integrate her legendary storytelling into TGL is evident. “Joining this team is an honor. As someone who believes in the power of storytelling and community, I’m eager to see how we can elevate the game together. Let’s tee off on this new journey. We are LAGC.”

Rhimes has joined an elite group of owners at the Los Angeles Golf Club (LAGC), which includes tennis stars Serena and Venus Williams, tech entrepreneur Alexis Ohanian Sr., and the Antetokounmpo brothers — Giannis, Thanasis, Kostas, and Alex. Serena Williams shared her excitement about joining the team in 2023, emphasizing the club’s commitment to making golf accessible and enjoyable for all.

“An important part of the spirit and purpose of LA Golf Club is making golf our own, for everybody,” she said. “I couldn’t be more excited to shape the future of this sport with my family.”

Scheduled to launch in January 2025, TGL seeks to transform golf by featuring 18 players in fast-paced, two-hour 18-hole matches in a stadium setting. The league will focus on speed, innovative technology, and enhancing viewer engagement.
