Liquid C2, the cloud and cybersecurity subsidiary of Cassava Technologies, owned by Zimbabwean billionaire Strive Masiyiwa has achieved a groundbreaking milestone by becoming  Africa’s first Google Cloud Interconnect provider.

This milestone, driven by its strategic partnership with Google Cloud services, enables Liquid C2 to deliver direct, high-speed access to Google Cloud, significantly enhancing the performance and security of cloud-based applications for its customers.

Enhancing cloud solutions and security

Liquid C2’s new capabilities allow African businesses to access customized cloud solutions that are crucial for digital transformation. By leveraging Google Cloud Interconnect, companies can reduce their dependence on public internet connections, thereby bolstering security and operational efficiency. The increased speed and bandwidth of the direct connection improve the performance of cloud-based applications, providing a more secure and reliable service.

“Becoming the first Google Cloud Interconnect provider in Africa is a major milestone for us in our quest to lead the continent’s cloud solutions market,” said Oswald Jumira, CEO of Liquid C2. “Our partnership with Google Cloud allows us to combine strengths and deliver solutions that meet the specific needs of the African market. Direct access to the Google Cloud network enhances security and operational efficiency for our customers in wholesale, enterprise, and government sectors.”

Driving digital inclusion and economic growth

Abdul Rahman Al Thehaiban, Managing Director of Google Cloud for Turkey, Middle East & Africa, emphasized the collaboration’s potential to foster digital inclusion and economic growth across Africa. “Google Interconnect has the potential to revolutionize business operations, and Liquid C2 is providing access to these transformative opportunities.”

This development builds on Liquid C2’s previous partnership with Google Cloud and AI company Anthropic, initiated in March this year, aimed at revolutionizing cloud, cybersecurity, and AI solutions for African enterprises.

Earlier in 2023, Liquid C2 also inaugurated its Cyber Security Fusion Center in Lusaka, Zambia, marking the third such facility in Africa and reinforcing its commitment to enhancing cybersecurity across the continent.
