In a historic event on Sat., Feb. 24, a consortium led by Nigerian businessman Tayo Amusan’s Persianas Group, in collaboration with the Nigerian Sovereign Investment Authority, marked the beginning of a groundbreaking ceremony for a groundbreaking project — a proposed $100-million, 12,000-capacity arena in Victoria Island, Lagos.
The ambitious venture, dubbed “The Arena,” marks a significant milestone in Nigeria’s entertainment and sports sector. The state-of-the-art facility, boasting a 12,000-capacity arena, is slated to become a monumental center for entertainment and sports, featuring a hotel and ample parking space.
The construction of The Arena, designed by Yazgan Design Architecture and executed by Sinerji İnşaat/Sinerji Construction, commenced on the auspicious date of Feb. 24, with an expected completion date set for December 2025.

Nigerian business leader Tayo Amusan, known for acquiring Retail Supermarkets Nigeria Limited in 2021, expressed his excitement for a long-awaited project. Speaking at the event, Amusan emphasized The Arena’s crucial role in fostering Nigeria’s lively music and entertainment scene.
Amusan’s consortium, joined by Live Nation, Oak View Group, Tunde Folawiyo of Yinka Folawiyo Group, Adino Capital, and MBO Capital, aims to create Africa’s first live entertainment hub, The Arena. Their vision includes hosting more than 200 events each year, showcasing talents from both local and international artists.
Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu praised the initiative, calling The Arena a purpose-built marvel that will catapult Lagos to the forefront of the global events space. With a capacity of 12,000 people, The Arena is set to redefine industry standards, making Lagos a prime location for top international events.
