Marocaine Ste de Therapeutique (Sothema), Morocco’s leading healthcare company led by Lamia Tazi, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Mauritania’s Central Purchasing Center for Essential Medicines and Medical Consumables (CAMEC), marking a substantial step towards boosting healthcare efforts in Mauritania.

The MOU, signed by Dr. Sadek Oum Elvadli, general manager of CAMEC, and representatives of Sothema, marks a milestone in strengthening cooperation in the supply of medicines to Mauritania.

The signing ceremony, held at Sothema’s headquarters, brought together prominent figures from both entities, emphasizing their commitment to enhancing public health infrastructure and access to essential medicines in Mauritania.

Lamia Tazi, the chairperson and CEO of Sothema, expressed her enthusiasm about the collaboration, emphasizing Sothema’s dedication to supporting friendly Arab and African countries by providing affordable access to the latest therapeutics.

In a LinkedIn post confirming the deal, Tazi stated, “Sothema will always stand by friendly Arab and African countries by making available and affordable the latest therapeutics their patients need.”

Tazi’s leadership has been instrumental in Sothema’s growth and expansion in recent years. As a prominent investor on the Casablanca bourse, Tazi holds a significant 8.4-percent stake in Sothema, amounting to 605,030 issued shares.

Her strategic vision and management acumen have propelled the company to become a key player in the healthcare sector, both domestically and internationally.
