Johannesburg-based multinational technology group, Datatec, led by South African tech tycoon Jens Montanana, has successfully acquired Rebura, a rapidly growing UK-based tech group specializing in Amazon Web Services (AWS) consulting and solutions.

Datatec, under the leadership of CEO Jens Montanana, has made a significant stride in expanding its global presence by acquiring Rebura, known for its expertise as an AWS consulting partner and solution provider.

Executed by Datatec’s subsidiary, Westcon-Comstor, this strategic move comes nearly two years after Datatec acquired Q Associates, a leading IT consultancy service provider in the UK in a broader strategy to enhance its proficiency in digital infrastructure.

Commenting on the acquisition, Montanana stated, “The acquisition of Rebura, with its certified AWS migration services competency, will significantly enhance Westcon-Comstor’s expertise and specialization in cybersecurity, creating a robust cloud security offering for channel partners.”

The acquisition, settled in cash from existing resources, aims to strengthen Westcon-Comstor’s cloud capabilities and channel-focused services offering.

This strategic move will empower Westcon-Comstor partners to deliver a comprehensive suite of AWS solutions, including cloud consultancy, migration services, financial operations, AWS Marketplace excellence, and security-aligned professional services.

From South Africa to global domination: Datatec’s journey with Montanana

Datatec, a South African-based group providing ICT solutions and services, has expanded its operations to more than 50 countries across North America, Latin America, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and the Asia-Pacific region under Jens Montanana’s leadership.

Montanana, recognized for his significant contributions to the tech industry, founded Datatec in 1986. He presently owns a 14.06-percent stake in Datatec, equivalent to 31,832,429 ordinary shares.

In 2023, Montanana received a total compensation package of $11.94 million from Datatec, acknowledging his unwavering dedication to the group and his wealth of expertise as a seasoned business leader and top professional.
