Nigerian billionaire Femi Otedola congratulates Africa’s richest man Aliko Dangote on refinery launch

In a heartfelt social media post, Nigerian billionaire Femi Otedola extended congratulations to Aliko Dangote, Africa’s richest man, on the launch of the Dangote Oil Refinery. Otedola praised the $20 billion project as the “8th Wonder of the World,” heralding a transformative milestone for Africa.

Otedola remarked, “I heartily congratulate my bestie Aliko Dangote as the Dangote Refinery begins production. This is more than an industrial achievement; it’s a testament to the visionary leadership and relentless pursuit of excellence of one of Africa’s finest patriots.”

According to Billionaires.Africa, the Dangote Petrochemical Complex boasts the world’s largest single-train petroleum refinery with a daily capacity of 650,000 barrels, a polypropylene facility producing 1 million metric tonnes annually, and two of the largest fertilizer trains with a 3 million tonnes urea capacity annually, marking a significant industrial advancement.

Otedola, who closely witnessed the refinery’s development, acknowledges the decade-long effort and challenges overcome. He highlights the refinery’s role as a beacon of hope, emphasizing its environmental sustainability through advanced carbon capture technologies aimed at reducing CO2 emissions and maritime crude oil transportation’s carbon footprint.

The refinery sets a precedent in environmental initiatives, recycling all its water and converting process heat into 50MW of power. It also produces cleaner Euro 5 standard fuel, thereby addressing the issue of lower-quality fuel imports.

Otedola concluded, “By meeting our requirements for all refined petroleum products, the refinery will champion energy security and independence for Nigeria and act as a catalyst for a new era of prosperity across the continent. It promises economic transformation for Nigerians today and for generations to come.”
