South African banker Anel Bosman earns $1.7-million salary from Nedbank in 2022

South African multimillionaire business executive Anel Bosman — the Group Managing Executive of Nedbank Group’s corporate and investment banking division — received a total compensation of R31.6 million ($1.72 million) from the leading lender in 2022.

The compensation package — which highlights her contribution to the group’s financial performance in 2022 — exceeded the previous year’s total reward of R29.18 million ($1.59 million) by 8.12 percent.

This significant increase in her salary can be linked to the group’s stellar financial performance in 2022 — Nedbank raked in total income amounting to R64.46 billion ($3.52 billion) and a profit of R15.42 billion ($841.12 million) at the end of its 2022 fiscal year.

A breakdown of her $1.72-million compensation package

Bosman‘s 2022 compensation package comprises a base salary of R5.05 million ($0.276) and a performance-based short-term incentive of R17.50 million ($956,342) thanks to the bank’s financial performance during the year.

She also received a long-term incentive award of R9 million ($491,916) from the lender — highlighting her dedication to the group and as well as her wealth of expertise as a seasoned professional.

In recent times, Bosman, a veteran in the banking industry who boasts decades of experience in South Africa’s financial services sector, has emerged as a key leader within NedBank’s executive team.

Bosman joined Nedbank’s executive committee in 2020 and was later appointed as the managing executive for the group’s corporate and investment banking unit on April 1, 2020 — showcasing a track record of exceptional leadership within the organization.

In recent times, the group’s headline earnings soared by 20 percent, rising from R11.7 billion ($628.18 million) in 2021 to R14.00 billion ($751.67 million) in the fiscal year 2022.
