With his current fortune of $2.4 billion, Bekker, who ranks as one of Africa’s richest billionaires, trailing behind distinguished figures like Nigerian billionaire Aliko Dangote, fellow South African billionaires Johann Rupert and Nicky Oppenheimer, now claims the 1,298th spot on Forbes’ global list of the wealthiest individuals.

The recent uptick in his fortune can be attributed to the recent increase in the market value of his illustrious business ventures, including his 0.72-percent stake in Prosus N.V., a global internet entity within the South African conglomerate Naspers, as well as his 0.85-percent stake in Naspers, which happens to be Africa’s largest publicly traded company.
