Cameroonian superstar Francis Ngannou, known for his devastating power and one punch knock out ability, made a major entry into the world of boxing on Saturday night when he faced Tyson Fury, the Gypsy King, in an eagerly awaited bout dubbed, “The Battle of the Baddest.”

Ngannou’s debut in the boxing ring was nothing short of spectacular, and the financial rewards were equally impressive, as he secured a confirmed purse of $10 million for the fight.

The fight, which took place on Oct. 28 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, was a headline event and garnered attention from fans worldwide. The clash saw Tyson Fury defend his heavyweight champion title on the judges’ scorecards, but Ngannou stole the show with his electrifying performance.

Ngannou’s $10-million guaranteed purse, however, is just the tip. Pay-Per-View (PPV) bonuses and international broadcasting rights are expected to boost his earnings. In the UK, the fight was available to viewers on TNT Sports Box Office for £21.95, adding to the earnings for the fighters.

While Tyson Fury, the reigning WBC heavyweight champion since 2020, earned a confirmed fight purse of $50 million, Ngannou’s $10 million marks a significant leap in his career earnings. Notably, this sum is over three times his total career earnings of less than $3 million from 14 fights in the UFC, where he notably claimed the heavyweight title.

The fight, which featured Ngannou’s explosive power and left-hook knockdown in Round 3, has generated substantial interest among fans for a potential matchup against American professional boxer Deontay Wilder. Such a bout could yield an even more substantial payday, surpassing his earnings from the fight with Tyson Fury.

In his last fight in the UFC, Ngannou defended his heavyweight title against French MMA star Ciryl Gane, earning around $600,000.

This marked a leap from the $580,000 that he received when he became the undisputed UFC heavyweight champion by knocking out American mixed martial artist Stipe Miocic at UFC 260.

With his latest $10-million fight purse, Ngannou has not only demonstrated his prowess in the boxing ring but has also risen to the ranks of the highest-earning athletes on the African continent.

His remarkable performance against Tyson Fury has catapulted him into the global spotlight, and the world now eagerly anticipates what’s next for this Cameroonian superstar.
