Giannis Antetokounmpo, the renowned NBA superstar, along with his brothers Thanasis, Kostas, and Alex — who all play professional basketball — have taken another strategic leap in their investment journey, acquiring a 10-percent stake in Hellenic Wineries, a Greek holding company.
This investment was made through Antetokounmpo’s flagship company, Ante Inc., owned jointly by all four siblings. Having acquired Boutari Wineries in 2022, Hellenic Wineries is known for its rich history and prominence in the Greek wine industry.
Antetokounmpo expressed his enthusiasm about the investment and the partnership with Elias Georgiadis, CEO of Sterner Stenhus and a major shareholder in Hellenic Wineries. “I am delighted about the investment and our partnership with Elias Georgiadis. Together, we will be able to develop companies with a history that produce natural products of the Greek land, such as wine and natural mineral water,” he stated.
Georgiadis also welcomed the Antetokounmpo family into Hellenic Wineries, which markets both Boutari wines and IOLI water.
“We are particularly pleased to welcome the Antetokounmpo family to Hellenic Wineries,” Georgiadis said. “By joining forces, we will be able to pursue and strengthen our strategic goal of spreading Greek products such as wine internationally, as well as promoting wine-related tourism in our country.”
This move into the world of wineries comes just a week after Antetokounmpo and his brothers made headlines with their substantial investment in the Los Angeles Golf Club (LAGC), one of the teams slated to participate in the highly anticipated TGL Golf League (TGL), backed by golf icons Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy.
Antetokounmpo, who signed an impressive five-year $228-million supermax extension with the Milwaukee Bucks in December 2020, has established himself as a shrewd investor. In June, he and his brothers launched their investment holding company, Ante Inc., to serve as a hub for various business endeavors.
One of the upcoming projects undertaken by Ante Inc. includes a retail store near the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee. This diversification complements their investments in sectors such as food and beverages, sports teams, and mutual funds, showcasing their commitment to diverse and strategic financial ventures.
Antetokounmpo’s latest venture into Hellenic Wineries demonstrates his expanding business acumen and marks a significant step in promoting Greek products and the nation’s rich heritage on a global scale.
