Tigo Senegal had more than 3 million subscribers at the time of the acquisition.
In April 2022, Hiridjee and Tanzanian billionaire Rostam Aziz partnered to acquire Millicom’s assets in Tanzania, including Tigo Tanzania Plc and Zanzibar Telecom.
