Oprah Winfrey, the renowned African-American billionaire and talk show host, has lost a total of $100 million since the start of 2022 due to the revaluation of her diverse investments and businesses in the media industry.
Winfrey, the wealthiest Black woman in America and one of the world’s richest Black billionaires, has turned her hit talk show “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” which ran for 25 years, into a media and business empire.
Her net worth has dropped from $2.6 billion at the start of the year to $2.5 billion at the time of writing this report, resulting in a total loss of $100 million for the leading businesswoman.

Despite the recent decline in her net worth, Winfrey remains the world’s wealthiest Black woman and ranks 10th on the list of America’s self-made women due to the value of her diverse investments and businesses.
Winfrey, dubbed the “Queen of Talk,” has amassed a thriving media empire that includes Harpo Productions, which has co-produced films such as “The Color Purple,” “Beloved,” and “Selma.”
She also has a 25.5-percent stake in the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN), the cable channel that she launched in 2011, and a seven-percent stake in Weight Watchers, a global company that provides weight loss and maintenance services, which is presently valued at $492 million.
The prominent businesswoman is one of the new investors in Guild Education, a private company based in Colorado that is redefining the future of work and adult education through tuition reimbursement, online programs, and degrees for working adults.
Oprah reflected on her decision to participate in Guild Education’s $175-million Series-F funding, stating that education can “change the trajectory of a person’s life, and Guild is creating a more equitable path.”
