IWOSAN Investments, a Lagos-based healthcare investment firm led by Nigerian businessman Fola Adeola, has announced the acquisition of Lagoon Hospitals Group, a leading hospital operator in Nigeria with facilities in Ikeja, Apapa, Victoria Island, and Ikoyi.

IWOSAN is a premier healthcare investment firm co-founded by Adeola, the founder of one of Nigeria’s largest banks, Guaranty Trust Holding Company Plc, and Fola Laoye, the founder and CEO of Health Markets Africa, a healthcare advisory and investment firm.

The Lagos-based healthcare investment firm is committed to investing in the Nigerian healthcare market as part of its plans to transform and improve the country’s healthcare landscape by investing in critical healthcare infrastructure across Nigeria.

Laoye commented on the transaction, stating: “This acquisition is extremely beneficial for all our stakeholders—our patients, team members, and the medical community at large. It is an opportunity to launch IWOSAN’s vision with Lagoon’s strong clinical services and standards, which are internationally benchmarked through JCI accreditation.”

She went on to say that the healthcare investment firm’s goal is to develop innovative strategies, while focusing on capacity development to ensure global standards of safety and quality in healthcare systems.

“IWOSAN’s investment in Lagoon Hospitals is a demonstration of its commitment to actively improve the healthcare sector across the country,” Adeola said.

Lagoon Hospitals will be rebranded as IWOSAN Lagoon Hospitals in accordance with the recently completed transaction.

Its new ownership will allow it to upgrade and expand its existing facilities, as well as implement embedded technology and improve processes.

The agreement will allow for the establishment of new locations and clinical services that will increase access to its target populations in Lagos and beyond, as the hospital will continue to serve a diverse population of Nigerians while delivering on its brand promise.
