Businessman Mohamed Frikha’s Syphax Airlines partners with Tui Russia to transport 50,000 tourists to Tunisia in 2022
Syphax Airlines has announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding with Moscow-based tour operator TUI Russia to transport about 50,000 tourists from Russia to Tunisia in 2022.
Syphax Airline is a privately-held charter airline founded in 2011 by Tunisian businessman Mohamed Frikha and based at the Sfax-Thyna International Airport in Sfax, Tunisia.
Online sources revealed that the company has only two aircraft in its fleet. However, the airline flies to 16 destinations, including Libya, Morocco, Turkey, Slovenia, Tunisia, France and Canada.
According to Syphax, a meeting was held with representatives of Moscow International Airport. Access was subsequently granted to use the airport and its services to execute the agreement with Tui Russia, Tunis Afrique Presse reported.
In a recent statement, Russian regulators announced the recommencement of flights to numerous countries from Nov. 9, including Tunisia. Meanwhile, TUI Russia also announced plans to restart flights to Tunisia after 1.5 years of interruption.
Tui Russia is a leading travel company in Russia, which includes a tour operator and a network of more than 700 travel agencies that organizes tours based on charter and regular transportation.
The company was founded in 2009 as a joint venture between the Russian Severgroup and the international travel holding TUI Group.
The group offers beach, sightseeing and skiing holidays to mass tourist destinations, including Turkey, the UAE, Spain, Italy, Tunisia, Greece, Bulgaria, Andorra, Croatia, Montenegro, Finland, Cyprus, Israel, Jordan, Thailand, Cuba and the Maldives.
