London-based Avanti Communications Plc, a telecom services provider, has launched Avanti Extend to increase satellite services in rural Sub-Saharan Africa.
Avanti Extend is a new managed satellite service for rural connectivity, designed specifically for mobile network operators. It provides 2G, 3G and 4G services to remote and hard-to-reach areas in Sub-Saharan Africa and integrates seamlessly into operator terrestrial networks to reduce network complexity while increasing efficiency.
Avanti Communications Group is a London-based telecom company that provides satellite communications and broadband services to business, institutional and residential customers.
Led by CEO Christopher Pucillo, Solus Alternative Asset Management LP is Avanti’s largest shareholder, with a 42.25-percent (914.06 million) controlling stake.
The London-based telecom company enables wholesale customers to provide reliable cellular service to the 100 million people living in locations considered hard-to-reach using the traditional terrestrial infrastructure.
Commenting, Avanti Chief Operating Officer Libby Barr said Avanti is on a mission to “work in partnership with the people of Africa to empower growth, protect communities and unlock opportunities for individuals, businesses, and governments by creating better connections across the continent.”
Customers thus do not need to manage satellite configurations, hub infrastructure, or terrestrial networks to deploy a successful satellite cellular backhaul topology. “The launch of Avanti Extend will help to make this mission a reality,” Barr said.
